The Seven Chakras - A Chakra Stones List
For centuries people have believed in the symbolism of crystal. The first historical references to the use of crystals come from ancient Sumerians who used crystals to make magic formulas. The ancient Egyptians made jewelry pieces out of lapis lazuli, turquoise, carnelian, emerald, and clear quartz and believed those stones provided protection and health.
Today, gemstones are aplenty and each gemstone has a story. When it comes to the chakra, it is believed that certain stones help to regulate the body and connect the emotional, physical, and spiritual sides.
There are seven chakras – root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown. Each chakra has a five-part reach – feelings, energy, physical, psychological, and spiritual. Each chakra is also connected to a specific stone or stones that are believed to have the power of healing. Some believe that pressing the stones against the body relieves emotional blockage and promotes clarity.
The most popular stone connected to the root chakra (located at the base of the spine) is the black onyx believed to strengthen the energy center. Other stones connected to the root chakra include coral, garnet, jasper, rhodonite, ruby, and smoky quartz.
A list of Chakra Stones:
- Crown (top of head) – calcite, diamond, moonstone, opal, quartz, zircon
- Third Eye (between brows) – amethyst
- Throat (base of the throat) - lapis lazuli, amazonite, aquamarine, azurite, sapphire, sodalite, turquoise
- Heart (center of the chest) – bloodstone, chrysocolla, emerald, jade, malachite, peridot, rose quartz, tourmaline
- Solar Plexus (below the sternum) – amber, citrine, gold, pyrite, tiger's eye
- Sacral (pelvic region) – carnelian agate
- Root (base of the spine) - onyx, garnet, jasper, rhodonite, ruby, smokey quartz
