The History And Origin Of Birthstones

The History And Origin Of Birthstones
What better way to express your individuality and brighten up your wardrobe than to add a piece of jewelry made exclusively with beads from your birthstones.

According to the Book of Exodus 28, birthstones are traced back to the breastplate of ‘Aaron the Priest’, who was the brother of Moses, a prophet of God, and the first high priest of the Israelites. The breastplate showed 12 unique gemstones that represented 12 tribes of Israel. As time progressed, scientists found a connection between the 12 stones and the zodiac signs. Early astrologers believed each gemstone brought healing powers or protection from evil to the people born in each individual month. This eventually led to the assignment of the stones to the birth months.

Each of the 12 birthstones has a unique meaning. Today's standardized birthstone list was created in 1912 by an organization known as 'The Jewelers of America'. It is believed that while wearing your birthstone, you will be engulfed with wellness and good fortune. Through the use of an array of beautifully created jewelry pieces, you can show off your special stone and feel cradled by its beauty. Gifts made out of birthstones are often the first that a child receives and can start a lifelong tradition of collecting and treasuring birthstone jewelry.
