Hypersthene is a Canadian magnesium-iron silicate known for it's grayish-black color and a vitreous to pearly luster. It is commonly found in igneous and metamorphic rocks and has a distinctive metallic-like sheen known as "schiller" when polished. Hypersthene is believed to have metaphysical properties, including promoting clarity and calmness.

Hypersthene material has become extremely rare, leading some companies to falsely market Arfvedsonite under its name. While both minerals are dark in color, hypersthene stands out with its distinct patterns and schiller. Don't be fooled!

Mostly black

These don't have quite the variation as in the photos. But they are very cool! Not a solid black, when you look at them closely. Turn them around, and you'll see translucent luster and sheen. Some beads do have brown.
